I get asked alot about gear & lenses whilst hosting workshops, and although I aim to guide and advise participants in a general way, I try not to 'make a decision' for people on what kit to get (which i think some do) as each of us is different, along with the right gear for us as individuals.
Purchasing lenses for any system can be expensive and a bit of a minefield, and believe me i have spent countless hours researching the very subject, so know what it is like. Last year i embarked on a year long Street Photography project, a project that was not only a big personal learning curve as it was the first time i had shot street, but also dipped my toe in the 'Mirrorless' water for the first time.

As this was a learning project i did not want to throw loads of money at it until I was sure on the format, so cost was a factor but without comprising quality, especially as the culmination of the project had already been picked up by a gallery for a month long exhibition of the final pieces (still feels funny working a year in advance).
After some careful consideration i decided to pick up the Sigma Art Series Lenses for E-Mount, all three of the available prime lenses in fact, which gave me great focal length coverage for street photography (19mm, 30mm & 60mm). These are wonderfully proportioned lenses that have great edge to edge sharpness and are amazing value for a good quality prime, with new prices between $150 - $200. I would not claim that they are the best prime glass out there, but for cost / quality they are hard to beat from my point of view.

I opened this thread saying that i try to guide over recommend, and with that in mind i can only convey my personal experience with the lenses, which is nothing but positive. That is not to say it would be perfect for your needs.....but well worth considering / looking at.
