On a personal level I have had a bit of a mixed experience with social media as an overall way of getting my work out there, struggling to make any sort of traction with Facebook, pretty slow on Instagram (though was a little late to the party), with only Twitter showing any sort of growth. This was not through need of trying, as I certainly tried to play the social media game....just nothing was sticking!!
I must confess to being a little wary of yet another new platform, especially as many have come and gone in the last few years, but decided to give it a go. It was a slow start and still have a way to go, but it has been very clear that Vero is cut from a different cloth as the rest, not only does it have the most intuitive and user friendly interface of most platforms, but it is seeming geared towards building genuine connections and communities. Furthermore the content feels more distilled, with an emphasis on the content you want to see.
Outside of the great content, it is a place you can build great relationships with other content creatives, who are eager to interact, support and comment in a constructive way, as they are there for the art and creativity as much as you are....this is vitally important for growth.
So far it has been nothing short of a good experience for me, making new friends and hopefully future collaborators, which is instrumental for creative development and inspiration.
