Hi, does anyone have any thoughts on Paintshop? I find it to be a very comprehensive tool, I also have added the Nik plugins. I tried photoshop essentials many years ago as it came pre-installed on a PC I purchased but I could never get on with it. What I do find frustrating is that nearly all the photograph magazines only describe Photoshop or Lightroom tips and tricks. Thanks for your input.

Hello there,
I have not used Paintshop for a number of years so can't really comment on current iterations, but as has already been discussed the NIK Collection has fantastic tools. I personally use the Lightroom / Photoshop combo, but purely as it suits my workflow with the mobile apps and cloud integration etc.... I can recommend Affinity Photo as a really great option / alternative, it is very affordable in comparative terms, is very versatile with a great tool set and is starting to push the other companies hard for feature set.
Hope this helps,
Scott
Hi 🙋🏼♂️ welcome to ArTastics.
First of all I didn’t use Paintshop. But I use the NIK collection too.
The NIK software collection offers some great tools that are fast and efficient at make pro quality post production edits. To me it is the power of Photoshop but with the ease of an Instagram filter. Even though I am running Photoshop on my laptop, I tend to only use it when I need a specific Photoshop tool. In 90% of the cases the NIK suite gets me great results in a fraction of the time.
