Hi Michael, I don'tuse the bridge camera anymore I now use a Canon 1200d DSLR. I'll try this shot again using the great advise everyone has given when we're next up in the lakes. And you're right it does have a strong connection as we both love staying in Coniston but very rarely get the chance.

Hello John,
Lots of great advice already so it is difficult to know what to add.... as already stated a tripod would have helped this, because not only does it serve as a stability aid, it also forces you to slow down a bit and take a more considered approach which would assist in a lot of the aforementioned pointers. To my eye it feels a little stuck in the middle, think it would have been beneficial to either try and draw out more detail or go full on abstract.
Keep up the work, and hope this helps,
Scott

Hi John, thanks for sharing your Image for feedback. Adam, Chris and Harald gave you already a feedback to your shot. Are you still capturing images with your Fuji S2000HD bridge camera? It´s a shot 11 years ago, so there must be a strong connection to this capture for you. Beside the technical aspects i would try to take care to the composition of the image. Try looking for some nice foreground and some leading lines into the shot, i see on the right side a little pool in between the stones, if it´s possible try to go there and composite your shot from there, try also to take care on the time you take the shot, maybe 30 min. later the light would be more colorful and try to use a tripod.
Keep shooting John
Best,
Michael

Thank you all for the feedback, I'll try all of them out. Especially the long exposure as we're due to stay in the lakes again in July.

Hi John. For me it is always very important that the horizon is straight. Especially with your photo it would certainly fit well. Otherwise, I would play a bit with contrast and the lights. The composition is good.

I would have tried to make a long exposure on that scene, it would look awesome in my opinion. Also i agree with what adam said!

Have a go at editing it. Consider playing with subtle toning. Toned monochrome would be nice. Don’t be afraid to get creative. This scene has abstract shapes, so is well suited to stringer edits

Hi Adam, this was taken with my old Fuji S2000HD bridge camera and I've never tried to edit it.

Nice contrast in light here John. What equipment did you use? Have tried editing it in a program like Lightroom?
